Project Templates are a way to create a type of project which can be used as the basis for many future projects! The Template section is set up to function just like the Product Module section, and therefore, will be easy to navigate once users are familiar with the Products Module functionality.
On the left menu under Projects, select Templates:
This will open the Templates Grid:
Double-click on an existing template or create a new Project Template by selecting the plus sign in the top right-hand corner of the grid.
You can then fill out the required information:
From there, tasks can be created by choosing the plus sign in the upper-right corner.
Documents can be added as well, and can be attached at both the Template and Task levels.
In addition, Project Templates have their own separate activity stream.
Copying a Project
In the right-hand upper corner of the Project Template, users can click on the double paper icon and create a new Project directly from the Project Template.
Fill in the required/desired information on the pop-up:
This will copy the original Project and carry all the fields, tasks and documents over to the newly created Project.
Custom field values can also be duplicated within Projects.
Another neat feature on Project Templates: users can create any task type without choosing a source, as this is not required. For example, you can set up a task within a template as essentially needing a work order that will then become a “Placeholder-work order” task within the project created from the selected template.
