We now have Parts capabilities within Products!
This added feature will allow for more thorough product management, as it will include part specific needs such as new fields and relationships.
Parts are also now associated with Assets, which can be built of many parts. We will now see an improvement to the experience of selecting Products when creating Line Items in order to reflect the considerations of parts. This feature adds a parts flag to products. It also allows for the nesting of products under other products as parts.
Under Assets, users can then also reference those Parts on the new Asset Parts screens. Products can now be directly associated with assets and categories. Creating these options allow for a convenient way to add line items to work orders, as the important items will automatically bubble up to the top.
Setting up Product/Parts
To get to the Products Grid, go to Administration > Selectables > Products. Users can double click on any Product to open up the fields menu.
Users will need to change the type from “Service” to “Good”, as products which are considered parts can only be goods. After you have done this, you then will be able to turn on the toggle for “part” to flag it as a part.
Users can also create nested parts within a part.
This will come up in search results when doing things such as creating line items and when you are searching for particular products. Users will be able to see category and asset matches in search results as well.
Categories is also a new field on the product form.
Assets Parts
Assets will be able to have many asset parts, and an asset part can be used multiple times with the same product.
Under Assets, you will also find a new Asset Parts Tab.
Assets Grid
Here, you will be able to add asset parts and choose from the selection of goods and add them as parts.
They also have selectable warranty start dates and warranty end dates.
Assets Parts and Reports
Asset part can now be selected under Linked Data Sources when running reports as well.
